Your Art Icon for the blog...

Artists stopping by please remember to email a favorite pic of your art to be used for the right-hand column of this blog. Your icon will link to your pages on the site proper so it's a great way to gain even more exposure for your art!

All icons will be sized to 100 pixels wide and it is suggested that the image be more vertical than horizontal as this keeps the picture large enough to view nicely.

See the ebay HA31 group board for more information or questions about this.

Natures Canvas Original Art~ ~ Magic Brush Studio~

Tree Fungus Art or what I call " NATURE'S CANVAS" is one of my favorite things to paint on. They are so unique and no two are ever alike. I try to use the shape of the piece to determine what I will paint on it.
I often use the lumps and bumps that are common on these pieces to create rocks, trees, Jack-o-lanterns, etc.
I try to leave as much of the natural wood showing as possible, as I think this only adds to the beauty of the piece. They offer a very dimensional surface to paint on. Some are free standing and some are for wall decoration.
Shown here is an original painting on Natures Canvas titled:
'The Headless Horseman of Sleepy Hollow' by ~Shirley Olsen of Magic Brush Studio~

Byrum Art Studios

WELCOME TO THE MAGICKAL WORLD of Fantasy Artist RON BYRUM
and his wife SHERRY BYRUM.

We have been lovers of Halloween for many years and our art reflects our love for Halloween and nature. Ron is truly an exceptionally talented artist and has a very vivid imagination and is truly amazing in his versatility. I have been Ron's apprentice for over 20 years and do all of the computer work and reproduce some of Ron's work on wood plaques. I also paint on canvas and mostly love to paint signs. I feel like lettering is a lost art and I enjoy lettering by hand with a liner brush. We are proud to be members of Ebay's HA31 Art Group and HalloweenArtists.com The members of the group have become like family to us and we enjoy the companionship as much as the art!

Art Shows of Note...

As artists, we strive for perfection in our art and certainly, a little promotion is a good thing too! For some of us, participating in local art and craft shows is a way to "get our art out there".

Some shows have become nationally known as the cream of the crop. The following two are definitely worth aspiring toward.

HALLOWEEN AND VINE
September 26, 2009
Hermann Sons Hall
860 Western Ave
Petaluma, CA 95476
Halloween and Vine is a juried art show that celebrates the Harvest, Wine and Halloween. Held in the heart of downtown Sonoma, artisans from across the country gather to show and sell their wonderful works to the public.

Another prestigious show, though not focused on Halloween is the
SMITHSONIAN CRAFT SHOW
April 22 - 26, 2009
National Building Museum
401 F Street NW
Washington DC 20001
The Smithsonian Craft Show is the nation’s most prestigious juried exhibition and sale of contemporary American crafts. One hundred and twenty master artists and emerging talents from across the country offer their latest one-of-a-kind and limited-edition work in basketry, ceramics, decorative fiber, furniture, glass, jewelry, leather, metal, mixed media, paper, wearable art, and wood. http://www.smithsoniancraftshow.org/
